Genome architecture and evolution in yeasts

My main scientific interest concerns eukaryotic genomes. From my early studies on mitochondrial inheritance in yeast, I discovered the mobile introns and the first homing endonuclease, I-Sce I. I then contributed to the original sequencing of the entire yeast genome and subsequently extended my research to comparative yeast genomics with a constant interest on the architecture and evolutionary dynamics of eukaryotic genomes.
