Regulation of protein biosynthesis by oxygen

Our group works on roles of oxygenases in the regulation of protein biosynthesis and modification, with emphasis on 2-oxoglutarate dependent oxygenases. These enzymes have roles in transcriptional regulation via catalysis of post-translational hydroxylations and demethylations on histone and transcription factors. Related enzymes are involved in translational regulation via ribosomal protein modification. Other interests include combatting antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic biosynthesis.
