The development and evolution of morphology

Our laboratory studies the genetic basis of the emergence of morphology during vertebrate embryogenesis utilizing two model systems: the developing mouse and chick. In addition, we examine the evolutionary changes in developmental regulation responsible for generating diversity of animal form, from limb evolution in hopping in desert rodents, to the genetic changes adapting fish to live in caves.
