Apico-basal polarity in development and homeostasis

We are interested in the cellular, molecular and genetic mechanisms required for the maintenance of apico-basal polarity during development and homeostasis. These are particularly required in cells exposed to stress. This can be mechanical stress, taking place during morphogenesis of epithelial sheets. Light is a stress factor acting particularly on the photosensitive apical membrane of photoreceptor cells, which have to be renewed constantly.
