Role of molecular chaperones in health and disease

My lab is interested in the pathways and machineries of cellular protein folding and assembly. Our major focus is on the role of molecular chaperones in promoting folding and preventing aggregation. A second area of research concerns the mechanisms of cellular pathology in protein aggregation diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington's, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

Keywords: Mechanism of folding in the cell / structure & function of heat shock proteins & molecular chaperones / neurodegenerative diseases of protein misfolding & aggregation

Subject area(s): Cell & Tissue Architecture | Proteins & Biochemistry | Structural Biology & Biophysics
