Genome editing and functional genomics in medicine

Our lab develops approaches to improve personalized medicine. We use directed molecular evolution to evolve site-specific recombinases as molecular scissors for future genome surgery. Furthermore, we perform functional genomic screens in stem cells to understand maintenance and exit from self-renewal. We also apply these techniques to patient cells with the goal to add functional data as a future diagnostic tool.
