Optogenetics, epithelial & plant physiology

Our lab is interested in the characterization and engineering of photoreceptors, useful for manipulation of cells or whole organisms by light (optogenetics). We first characterized and applied channelrhodopsins and are still interested in novel opsins and flavoproteins. We are especially interested in nucleotidyl cyclases and in membrane transport.

Keywords: Optogenetics / channelrhodopsins / flavoproteins / phototaxis / light-gated channel / biophysics / opsins / cyclases

Subject area(s): Membranes & Transport | Proteins & Biochemistry | Signal Transduction | Structural Biology & Biophysics
