Cell lipids, where they are and how they behave

With Kai Simons at EMBL I developed the lipid raft hypothesis: membrane lipids can segregate into lateral domains of different composition. This forms the physical basis for the sorting of lipid molecules to the various cellular organelles. In the Cell Biology Department of Utrecht University Medical School the group identified a lipid transport activity of multidrug transporters.
