Protein targeting and membrane protein biogenesis

We aim to understand the structure and function of molecular machines in co- and post-translational protein targeting, e.g. the SRP and Get pathways. Using a combination of biochemical techniques and X-ray crystallography as our key method we study the molecular mechanisms of membrane protein biogenesis and of factors acting early on newly synthesized proteins.
