Cellular functions of myosins in health and disease

Our long-term goal is to characterize the diverse classes of myosin motor proteins in sufficient detail so as to understand their precise roles in cellular transport pathways. We want to know how they function in cells; how do they recognize and transport cargo to specific locations within the cell and how are defects in these motors linked to a diverse range of pathological processes?
