My group is exploring the thesis that the genetic programming of complex organisms has been misunderstood because of the assumption that most genetic information is transacted by proteins. We are exploring the vast hidden layer of regulatory RNAs, large and small, that are dynamically expressed from eukaryotic genomes, and that appear to direct the epigenetic trajectories underpinning development and brain function.
