We investigate the nuclear components of activity- and Ca2+-dependent transcriptional responses in neurons and immune cells to i) understand downstream events that are responsible for plastic changes in synaptic functionality and, ii) to develop tools to intervene in the physiological output processes including learning and memory, pain sensitization and immune response. Our focus is on the Ca2+-dependent transcriptional repressor DREAM.
