Evolution of social behaviour in ants

Our Laboratory is interested in the evolution of social life and the genetics of social organisation. We use ants as the prime model for our work. We are also interested in the mechanism of caste determination and the causes underlying the much higher lifespan of queens compared to workers. We are also studying the evolution of unusual modes of reproduction, such as clonal reproduction by both queens and males
