My research concerns the genetic, molecular and cellular bases of bacterial pathogenesis with Shigella as the primary model, as well as the mechanisms of gut homeostasis and pathology in the presence of symbiotic bacteria. Our team has developed candidate vaccines against shigellosis that are currently in clinical trials.
