The mechanism of mammalian translation initiation

In recent years our research has focussed on the following three topics: (i) the mechanism of the reinitiation that occurs following translation of a short upstream ORF in higher eukaryotes; (ii) the mechanism of initiation site selection on different sub-classes of picornavirus IRESs; and (iii) the mechanism of stimulation of picornavirus IRESs by polypyrimidine tract binding protein.
