DNA damage tolerance mechanisms

My team is interested in the way cells replicate damaged DNA and in the biological consequences. We focus both on Translesion Synthesis (TLS) pathways that are responsible for most point mutations and on the so-called Damage Avoidance (DA) strategies that allow cells to bypass lesions in an error-free way by using transiently the sister chromatid.

Keywords: Replication of damaged DNA / specialized DNA polymerases / translesion synthesis / mutagenesis / DNA damage response
