Structural and functional characterization of proteins

Our research interest focuses on combining structural techniques with biochemistry and cell biology to characterize the function of proteins. One of the major topics is the investigation of the regulation of p63. This p53 homologue plays a crucial role in the quality control of oocytes and in maintaining epithelial stem cells. Other resaerch areas include the characterization of membrane proteins using a cell-free expression system in combination with NMR spectroscopy and the investigation of proteins involved in autophagy.
