Chromatin reprogramming to totipotency in mammals

Our research focuses on how chromatin is epigenetically reprogrammed to a totipotent state in vivo. We use mechanistic cell biology, spatial genome organization and genetics to study the conversion of female germ cells by fertilization into single-cell embryos, the oocyte-to-zygote transition. Our insights into meiotic chromosome segregation in oocytes and zygotic reprogramming are relevant for maternal age-related egg aneuploidy and infertility.
