Our goal is to elucidate the molecular and cellular basis of hematopoietic stem cell self-renewal and differentiation as well as to characterize the complex dynamic interactions within the stem cell-niche unit. In addition, we have established a program to functionally characterize cancer and metastasis stem cells at various levels and translate these findings into novel diagnostic and therapeutic tools to detect and target metastatic disease.
