My lab investigates potassium (K+) channels, ubiquitous membrane proteins that control membrane excitability. The aim is to understand the conformational changes leading to pore gating. To this end, we combine functional (patch clamp) and structural (cryoEM) studies. We are presently engineering synthetic channels activated by external stimuli, light, ultrasounds and magnetic fields for future therapeutic applications.
