Our lab investigates how microglia, the brain's immune cells, recognize diverse neuronal phenotypes and adapt to support neuronal function. We propose that matching between neuronal and microglial diversity is essential for brain health, and that mismatches lead to aberrant activity and degeneration. We examine epigenetic mechanisms that regulate microglial plasticity and how changes in these pathways drive inflammation or protective states.
