We are interested in the temporal and spatial control of protein and mRNA localization in the cell. To this end my group focuses on the regulation of major players of protein and membrane traffic, small GTP binding proteins of the Arf and Rab families and their downstream effectors. We take advantage of the biochemically and genetically easily tractable yeast but also determine how these mechanisms affect development of multicellular organisms.
