Our lab focuses on understanding how the cell nucleus specifies the identities of the different cell types in the body, and how changes of cell identity are regulated in development. We have focused on the mammalian dosage compensation system for studying the developmentally regulated establishment of silent chromatin. Recently we have applied haploid embryonic stem cells for studying the genetic requirements for the initiation of X inactivation.
