Our lab investigates the molecular diversity and evolution of immunity across life. We use bacterial antiviral defense systems to uncover general principles of immune function, trace ancient links with eukaryotic innate immunity, and discover novel immune genes, mechanisms and molecules in bacteria and eukaryotes, including humans.
