We study the evolution of molecular networks by combining computational and high-throughput experimental approaches. We primarily focus on three questions: (i) What are the evolutionary forces driving metabolic diversity? (ii) What are the trade-offs of acquiring antibiotic resistance? (iii) Can deleterious mutations play a constructive role in the evolution of new phenotypes?
