The generation of cellular diversity via asymmetric cell division is of fundamental importance for nearly all organisms. How sister cells acquire different fates in this context is still not fully understood. We use the C. elegans cell death fate as a paradigm to study this problem in vivo at single cell resolution. To that end we employ approaches that range from genome manipulations to live super resolution imaging and biochemistry.
