In my group we study the molecular diversity of plant disease resistance mechanisms against fungal pathogens of wheat. The focus is on the molecular basis of both durable, quantitative resistance as well as race-specific immunity and the receptors involved in it. We use genomic approaches in wheat and the powdery mildew pathogen to characterize the interaction between host and pathogen to develop strategies for improved disease control.
