Genome architecture and evolution in yeasts

My main scientific interest concerns eukaryotic genomes. I started by studying the mitochondrial genome of Saccharomyces cerevisiae where I discovered mobile introns and the first homing endonuclease. I then contributed to the pioneer sequencing of its entire nuclear genome. During the last two decades, I focused my research on the architecture and dynamics of yeast genomes across their large evolutionary range using comparative genomics combined with experiments.
