Our goal is to tackle the role of opioid systems in brain physiology, as well as neurological and psychiatric disorders. We explore the roles of opioid receptors in chronic pain, addictive behaviors and other areas of psychiatric disorders. We also use genome-wide approaches to discover novel molecular targets for psychiatric research. Our laboratory uses gene targeting approaches in mice, behavioral analysis, pharmacology, as well as receptor and cellular imaging to achieve these goals.
