Our group uses Drosophila for genetic studies of cell growth and proliferation. We apply diverse molecular and genetic technics to learn where, how, and why cells in vivo in the fly activate and deactivate their programs of growth and cell cycle progression. Current focusses include the roles of cell cycle genes, transcriptional regulators, signaling pathways, and environmental factors such as nutrition and infection as regulators of cell growth and cycle progression in wing progenitors, intestinal stem cells, and post-mitotic polyploid cells.
