My lab aims to unravel the molecular mechanisms of membrane proteins participating in cell wall assembly, and to establish strategies to counteract bacterial pathogens. We combine single-particle cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, and in-vitro and in-vivo functional characterization of proteins to show how cell wall biopolymers are assembled, transported, and how they contribute to immune evasion, adaptation, and virulence.
