My laboratory studies the molecular basis of synapse development and plasticity by focusing on molecular pathways that are linked to human evolution. Our goal is to understand fundamental principles that are common to all mammals and uncover regulations that are specific to humans. We use in-vivo manipulations in intact mouse cortical circuits, microscopy, electrophysiology, proteomics and neurons derived from human pluripotent stem cells.
