My lab pioneered quantitative synthetic biology, uncovering quantitative principles governing bacterial cell cycles, spatial self-organization, and bacteria-tumor-immune interactions. Building on these foundations, our ongoing work focuses on bottom-up construction of synthetic cells and rationally engineered bacterial cancer therapies, aiming to advance synthetic biology from trial-and-error toward predictive design.
