Development and physiology of visceral neurons

My group works on the development, the physiology and the evolution of the visceral nervous system that commands respiratory, cardiovascular and digestive functions. We use intersectional strategies to conditionally stimulate or inactivate specific classes of visceral neurons. In particular, I have been interested in the neurons that control mammalian respiration, in particular those mediating the chemosensitivity of breathing.
