Role of secretion systems in bacterial persistence

My group is studying the role of type IV secretion (T4S) systems in the establishment of persistent bacterial infection. Our research focusses on structure/function analysis of T4S system-translocated bacterial effector proteins and their cellular targets. Moreover, we are employing systems biology approaches to reveal the host cell signaling network underlying bacterial cell invasion and intracellular persistence.
