At the interface between biology and computer science, my laboratory seeks to better understand evolutionary and functional relationships between genes, genomes, and species. To achieve this goal, we divide our activities between 1) fundamental bioinformatic method and resource development (e.g. the OMA orthology database), and 2) their applications to answer open biological questions, often in collaboration with experimentalists.
