My work is focused on understanding the molecular basis of chronic diseases with an emphasis on autoimmune diseases such as celiac disease. As these are all multifactorial in origin, my research investigates the interplay between host genetics, the immune system and the gut microbiome. We combine patient cohorts, a longitudinal population cohort and gut-on-chip technology.
