My laboratory is mostly devoted to the study of cell division and of the mechanisms involved in maintaining genomic stability in eukaryotes. I identified the Polo kinase, worked on gamma-tubulin, identified CLASPs and more recently studied checkpoint proteins like Mps1, Mad2, BubR1, Bu3 and CENP-E. Future research aims to further our understanding of the role of chromosome instability in tumorigenesis using Drosophila as model organism.
