Huntington's disease, neurodegeneration and autophagy

My research aims to understand the pathogenesis of Huntington's disease and related conditions caused by aggregate-prone proteins, and towards developing rational therapeutic strategies. We have a major focus on understanding the relevance of autophagy defects as a disease mechanism and autophagy upregulation as a possible therapeutic approach, and study the basic cell biology of this important catabolic process.
