We aim to understand how Solute Carrier (SLC) transporters function at the molecular level. SLC transporters carry small molecules, such as ions, sugars and drugs, across cell membranes and are integral to human physiology. By investigating how they bind and catalyse the transport of small molecules, we can better understand how their function underlies tissue and organ system function and how they might be better targeted in drug development.
