Our research aims to understand the impact of host-virus interactions on the ecologically important marine cyanobacteria Synechococcus and Prochlorococcus, and the two major T4-like and T7-like cyanophage families. We focus on investigating cyanobacterial resistance to infection, cyanophage takeover of cellular processes including genes captured from their hosts, and mapping cyanophage distribution and infection dynamics in the global oceans.
