My main interest are rapid evolutionary processes, for example host-parasite and host-microbiome (co)-evolution, local adaptation and evolution of sex. We use a multitude of approaches ranging from field studies to experimental work, from Mendelian genetics to whole genome sequencing and analysis, from experimental evolution to artificial selection. The main study system are the waterfleas Daphnia and its symbionts.
