The goal of our research is to dissect the developmental mechanisms that control the formation of specific neuronal circuits. We are using genetic, cell biological and biochemical methods to understand how the molecular recognition of growth signals during neuronal pathfinding and synaptic target selection occurs. In order to understand the molecular specificity underlying these processes we are focusing on ligand recognition and signal transduction of membrane receptors.
