Pathogen subpopulations in disease and control

Our group studies host-pathogen interactions for the three pathogens Salmonella, Shigella, and Pseudomonas. We are developing new single-cell approaches to detect, visualize, and purify pathogen subsets from distinct host micro-environments. Our results show an astonishing diversity of host-pathogen encounters in infected tissues with major implications for disease progression, antimicrobial treatment, and vaccine efficacy.
