The FAP+ Stromal Cell and Cancer

My lab studies a stromal cell type that is identified by its expression of the membrane protein, Fibroblast Activation Protein-alpha (FAP). The FAP+ stromal cell mediates immune suppression within the tumor microenvironment. Other members of this stromal lineage reside in almost all normal tissues, in some of which we have shown essential functions, such as maintenance of skeletal muscle and hematopoiesis.
