I study how genes are regulated during cell fate decisions as stem cells go through lineage commitment, differentiation and terminal maturation to form blood cells. I study gene regulation via cis-elements, the transcriptional and epigenetic programmes, and the 4D nucleome. We also study how genomic variation affects gene expression, particularly via enhancer promoter interactions. Finally, this work intersects with our studies of rare and complex human genetic diseases.
