Our research focuses on the role of neuronal plasticity and neurotrophic factors in the mechanism of action of antidepressants and in recovery from neuronal and psychiatric disorders. We have shown that many different antidepressants directly bind to the BDNF receptor TrkB and thereby promote experience-dependent neuronal plasticity, which plays a critical role in the mechanism of antidepressant drug action.
