Our group studies protein homeostasis and quality control with an emphasis on the roles played by large, multi-subunit degradation machines and their substrate recruitment pathways, including a ubiquitin-like protein modification termed pupylation that recruits proteins for proteasomal degradation in mycobacteria. We use a combination of biochemical, microbiological and structural approaches.
Keywords: Protein degradation / AAA+ proteins / ubiquitin-like post-translational protein modification / mycobacterial proteasome / pupylation / protein quality control / DNA damage response regulation
