Hematopoietic stem cell development and regeneration
The major focus of my research group is the identification of molecular regulators of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) development and the use of this fundamental knowledge in improving human health and treatments for blood-related disease. Recently, we demonstrated that the first HSCs are generated from specialized endothelial cells of the embryonic aorta and described the complete transcriptome of the cells undergoing this process.
