Our group is studying the role of the insect immune system in the survival of malaria parasites in the Anopheles mosquito, the insect vector that transmits malaria to humans. In particular, we are interested in the role of complement-like cascade in Plasmodium killing. This work has implications for development of novel vector control strategies.
